Univ of Wisconsin System works to restore $32M in DEI-related cuts

Submitted by Bob Feidler – UW System President Rothman released a video today introducing an initiative to promote workforce development. The initiative, if successful, will garner $32 million for its implementation on the University of Wisconsin campuses. The funds were withheld from the UW System budget by Speaker Voss last summer. Voss estimated $32M as the cost of UW System DEI programs which he sought to eliminate, but promised to provide a comparable sum if the System dedicated it to workforce development. The Board of Regents takes up the issue Thursday, Nov 9, and is expected to adopt it. It will then be presented to the legislature for final approval.
